Day 1 — Lead the Team

What is the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification?

The Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification is an internationally recognized credential from Scrum Alliance that validates your understanding of Scrum principles, Agile methodologies, and your ability to lead Scrum teams effectively.

Do I need prior Scrum or Agile experience?

No prior experience is required! This course is designed for beginners and experienced professionals alike. However, familiarity with Agile concepts can be helpful.

How is the class delivered?

Live, instructor-led sessions that are highly interactive—either in-person at specified locations or live online via Zoom.

What is the duration of the course?

Two full days, eight hours each — the same whether you join remotely or in person. Class times are shown with each cohort.

What materials will I receive?

A comprehensive digital workbook, templates and tools to apply Scrum in real-world scenarios, access to exclusive Artisan Agility resources, and study guides to help prepare for the certification exam.

Is attendance mandatory?

Yes. To qualify for the CSM certification, you must attend all required class sessions and actively participate in exercises.

How do I take the CSM exam?

After completing the course, you will receive a link from Scrum Alliance to take the CSM exam online. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, and you must score 74% (37/50 correct) or higher to pass.

What happens if I fail the exam?

You get two free attempts to pass the exam within 90 days of completing the course. If you need additional attempts, Scrum Alliance may charge a small retake fee—but see our risk-free guarantee: we’ll coach you and cover additional attempts until you pass.

When will I receive my certification?

Upon passing the exam, you will receive your Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certificate from Scrum Alliance, along with a two-year Scrum Alliance membership.

Do I need to renew my certification?

Yes, the CSM certification is valid for two years. To renew, you must earn 20 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay a $100 renewal fee to Scrum Alliance.

What can I do with my CSM certification?

Work as a Scrum Master in Agile teams, enhance your leadership skills for Agile environments, increase job opportunities and salary potential, and continue your Agile journey with Advanced CSM (A-CSM) or other certifications.

Does this certification guarantee me a job as a Scrum Master?
