Training Opportunities / The Leadership Ascent

Nobody Promoted You For This Part.

You were promoted for being good at the work. Then the job changed into something else entirely — and nobody handed you the manual for the new one.

The Job You Actually Have Now

Leadership development usually arrives as a slogan and a two-day offsite. Then you go back to a team that isn’t speaking up, a calendar that owns you, and a set of problems no framework covers.

This is the long version. Over five hours of recorded instruction, built around the parts of leadership that decide whether people do their best work for you or merely their assigned work:

  • Why engagement collapses, and the specific leader behaviours that cause it
  • Psychological safety as something you build on purpose, not a mood you hope for
  • Emotional intelligence as a practice with steps — not a personality you either have or don’t
  • How to keep learning once nobody is assigning you anything
  • Getting your own week back, so there’s room to lead at all

Every module comes with the workbook and the exercises — this is a course you do, not one you sit through.

What you'll learn

  • The leadership behaviours that quietly cost you your best people
  • How engagement is actually built, and what stress and unasked-for help do to it
  • Psychological safety: measuring where your team stands and moving it
  • Emotional intelligence in practice, with fifty worked examples of what “high” looks like
  • Continuous learning as a system, tied to real role and performance objectives
  • Personal productivity: weekly planning and activity tracking that survive a bad week
  • Leading teams and motivating employees — the written modules, ahead of the recordings

Who this is for

  • New managers who were promoted for the work and are now doing a different job
  • Experienced leaders who inherited a disengaged team and want a method, not a slogan
  • Scrum Masters and coaches who influence without authority and need the people skills to match
  • Anyone who has read the leadership books and wants the exercises instead

What you get

  • Nine modules — seven recorded, over five hours of instruction
  • The module handbooks and bonus worksheets, yours to keep
  • Case studies to work through: Enron, Volkswagen, and the failures worth learning from
  • The Psychological Safety Assessment Tool, to use on your own team
  • A certificate of completion
  • One year of access from the day you enrol

Modules unlock in order — finish one to open the next.

The last two modules are reading and exercises rather than video. The recordings are being made; they’ll appear in your account when they’re done, at no extra cost.

Training formats

Self-paced video, taken whenever you like. There are no scheduled sessions and nothing to attend.

Nine modules — seven recorded, over five hours in total — plus handbooks and worksheets as downloads.

Buying for a team? Set the licence count at checkout and assign each one to a person afterwards.

Risk-free guarantee

Self-paced training is non-refundable — you get the whole course the moment you enrol, so there’s nothing to return.

In exchange you keep one year of access from the day you enrol, and you can work through it as many times as you like in that year.

Modules added during your year are yours too — including the recordings for the last two.

If the course isn’t what you expected, email jim@artisanagility.com and we’ll sort it out.

Prerequisites

None. No Agile background is assumed — this is about leading people, and it applies whether or not your teams run Scrum.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a certification class?

No. It earns a certificate of completion from Artisan Agility, not a Scrum Alliance credential — there isn’t one for leadership.

Two of the nine modules have no video. What does that mean?

Leading Teams and Motivating Employees are complete as written modules — the handbook, the exercises, the worksheets — but haven’t been recorded yet.

You get them as reading now, and the recordings when they’re made, inside your access year, at no extra cost. We’d rather tell you up front than have you find out at module 8.

How long does it take?

Over five hours of video across seven modules, plus the exercises, which are the part that actually changes anything. Most people take it a module a week.

Do I need to work in Agile for this to be useful?

No. Engagement, psychological safety, emotional intelligence, and personal productivity are leadership problems regardless of how your teams deliver.

Can I buy this for my team?

Yes. Choose the number of licences at checkout, and you’ll assign each one to a person afterwards. Each person gets their own progress, downloads, and certificate.

What’s your refund policy?

Self-paced training is non-refundable — the full course is delivered the moment you enrol. The one-year access window is the trade.

Live classes are different: full refund 10+ days out, credit within 10 days. See the live class pages for those terms.
