Training Opportunities / Building Team Foundations

A Group That Hasn’t Agreed on Anything Isn’t a Team Yet.

Mission, vision, core values, the skills you actually need, goals, and an operating agreement everyone signed. Six things most teams never sit down and settle — and then spend a year paying for.

Start With the Foundation, Not the Backlog.

Most teams are assembled and immediately handed work. Nobody asks what the team is for, what it values, or how it will decide anything.

This course walks through the foundation work, module by module, with a worksheet for each piece so your team fills it in rather than watches you do it:

  • A mission and vision the team wrote, not one they were handed
  • Core values specific enough to settle an argument
  • An honest skills inventory, and a plan for the gaps
  • Goals worth writing down, and an operating agreement worth signing

It’s free, it’s three modules, and the worksheets are yours to keep and reuse with every team you build.

What you'll learn

  • How to facilitate a team to its own mission and vision, instead of writing one for them
  • Why a mission and a vision are different documents, and how to keep them aligned
  • How to get from a long list of nice words to core values that actually guide a decision
  • Taking a skills inventory without it reading as a performance review
  • Building a skills development plan for the gaps the inventory exposes
  • Where Scrum roles and accountabilities fit against the skills a team needs
  • Writing sprint goals that mean something at the end of the sprint
  • Creating a team operating agreement the team will actually hold each other to

Who this is for

  • Scrum Masters and team leads standing up a brand-new team
  • Managers who inherited a team that never had a charter
  • Anyone whose team argues about the same thing every month

What you get

  • Three recorded modules you can take at your own pace
  • Nine worksheets and templates, downloadable and reusable
  • A certificate of completion when you finish every module
  • Yours permanently — come back when a new team lands on your desk

The fine print

What’s covered

Three modules, taken in order, on your clock. Each one ends with worksheets to run with your team:

Module One

Focus: Defining team mission and vision

  • What a team mission is for, and who should write it
  • How a vision differs from a mission, and why both are needed
  • Facilitating the conversation rather than supplying the answer
  • Worksheets: mission, vision, and checking the two align

Module Two

Focus: Core values and the skills the team needs

  • Getting from generic values to ones that settle real disagreements
  • Taking a skills inventory that people answer honestly
  • Turning the gaps into a development plan with names against it
  • Where Scrum roles and accountabilities sit alongside skills

Module Three

Focus: Goals and the operating agreement

  • Writing sprint goals that can be judged true or false at the end
  • What belongs in a team operating agreement — and what doesn’t
  • Getting genuine commitment rather than silent consent
  • Keeping the agreement a living document instead of a wall poster

Modules unlock in order — finish one to open the next.

Every worksheet is a download you keep, whether or not you finish the course.
