The task board in Sierra Agility is a dynamic and interactive tool designed to help teams effectively manage their sprint planning and task tracking. This documentation provides detailed instructions on how to use the task board to its fullest potential.
How to Access the Task Board
When a sprint is in progress, there are two primary ways to access the task board:
- From the Main Dashboard:
- Locate the “Task Board” button on the task card.
- Click the “Task Board” button to open the task board.
- From the Team Dashboard:
- Navigate to the team dashboard.
- Click on the “Task Board” button to open the task board.
Features of the Task Board
Automatic Population
The task board is automatically populated during sprint planning. Backlog items and their associated tasks are displayed in a structured table format.
Task Board Layout
- Table Structure: The task board is presented as a table with the following columns:
- Backlog Items: The first column lists all the backlog items.
- Task States: Successive columns represent the different states of tasks:
- Not Started
- In Progress
- Blocked
- Done
- Cancelled
Task Management
- Drag and Drop: Tasks can be easily moved between states (columns) and from one backlog item to another (rows) by dragging and dropping.
- Column Resizing: Adjust the width of columns by clicking on the bars between the columns and dragging to resize.
- Button Bar: The button bar offers several useful functions:
- Reset Column Widths: Reset columns to their default widths.
- Hide/Unhide Completed Backlog Items: Toggle the visibility of completed backlog items.
- Undo/Redo Actions: Undo or redo actions such as dragging, adding, or deleting tasks.
Task and Backlog Item Editing
- Editing: Click on a backlog item or task to edit its details.
- Shortcuts: Buttons are available for quick actions:
- Change the size of a backlog item or task.
- Change the value of a backlog item.
- Assign team members to a task.
Task Assignment
- Team Assignments: Tasks can be assigned to one or more team members simultaneously.
- No Backlog Item Assignment: Backlog items themselves are not assigned to team members.
Real-Time Collaboration
- Synchronized Updates: When two or more team members are viewing the task board on different computers, any changes made on one task board are reflected on all task boards within a few seconds.
How to Use the Task Board
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Sprint Planning
- During sprint planning, the task board is automatically populated with backlog items and tasks.
- Navigating the Task Board
- View backlog items in the first column.
- View tasks in their respective states (Not Started, In Progress, Blocked, Done, Cancelled) in the following columns.
- Managing Tasks
- Moving Tasks: Drag tasks between columns to change their state or between rows to reassign them to different backlog items.
- Resizing Columns: Click and drag the bars between columns to adjust their width.
- Using the Button Bar:
